Mary - I know, I've totally been looking forward to you commenting. I was sure there'd be a speech and maybe some sort of e-plaque, but, you know, it's just good to have you back. (Or are you still out west?)
Blackbird - pshaw... like anybody's ever gonna be interested in me singing karaoke.
Carrie - swerve, I did. I also veered, careened, and braked suddenly.
I had to come back because I've just thought of something. You might recall how I've previously pointed out our similarities in that we both live in Michigan, have twins, and employ humorous techniques in our writing?
I think we need to start a club.
It could be called:
Funny Authors Raising Twins
Only that's kind of long, so we'd need an abbreviation of some kind. Hmmm... perhaps an acronym?
I would comment on this post but I feel intimidated by the coolness exhibited by all the players in the pics. Hmph. I guess step one in being cool would have been to show up, huh? I'm thinking the outfit I would have worn wouldn't have matched anyway.
Bunny - You? Intimidated by coolness? How is that possible? If you had shown up, most likely everybody else would have been intimidated.
Pink - Karaoke king? Not quite. I have barely enough singing skill to give myself the confidence to embarrass myself. Does that make sense?
Vivi - You amaze me. It was Love Shack, how did you know? Is it because Love Shack is the most overplayed and annoying song in all of karaoke-dom? In my defense, the guy had a pretty poor selection, so we picked Love Shack out of frustration. (The first song we did was "If I had a Million Dollars" - which has very significant meaning in my life right now)
Shorty - I barely noticed 'the girl', but Cindy and some of the other girls kept saying how they felt sorry for her cuz she didn't have any friends or anybody to dance with. Bunch of saints, no?
Yes, saints they are. I just tried to avoid her. She kept wanting ME to dance with her.
Ick. I felt bad for her too - then I realized there is a REASON no one was dancing with her. Her friends were in back laughing at her - she was stinkin, thong and a$$ crack, muffin toppin, fallin over on the dance floor drunk!
You know, for people that don't know me (your fellow-writers), they probably think I'm a terrible bee-yotch. Truth is, I'm only kinda a terrible beee-yotch. It's my sense of humor, folks. As for cool....it is all in the eye of the beholder. I can best be categorized as the intellectual elitist that stands on the sidelines of life making cutting, witty remarks; the exact kind of person that the conservative right likes to vilify because we think we're so smart. Well, all I can say is, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. If you like pudding, you'll say it tastes good. If you don't...you'll say it tastes like shit. What is the point I am trying to say? I'm not sure. I lost myself somewhere back there trying to define cool.
I was at the party, too, but kept a low profile after just having eye surgery. I am very impressed with the other writers who post on this blog, they all seem like such great people and good writers. Don't know why it takes so long to get an agent, but even back in the early 70s when I took a writing course that offered a long list of agents to get you started, it stressed that writers would at first receive many rejections, possibly hundreds, before any material might be accepted. I guess things haven't changed that much. But I do have to say I know what it took for BPV to get the interest of a bona fide literary agent, and he certainly "paid his dues".

Aww man! I'm sorry I missed the big announcement. Many, many congrats Ray!
The party looks like tons of fun.
You gotta be careful with the pictures you post here, man. With your upcoming fame and all. :)
Look at you getting your swerve on. :)

Ewww... you sure know how to paint a word picture. Do you want to be writers with us?
Is that like an invite to the 'stunt man club'? I learned my lesson from that one!
Besides, my creativity only comes in spews of insults.
The stunt man club.... oh, the memories that brings back.
For your initiation here, I command you to go forth and blog - about the stunt man club.

All I see is you with a bunch of women. Livin' the life already.
You have a thing for blonds? It's ok to admit it. It's perfectly natural;)
Good for you. And so you should celebrate what the rest of us dream for.
Can I say? Writing is as writing does. And that about sums it up.
Bunny - I know you're cool; you know you're cool. Everybody else will just have to take our word for it.
Elizabeth - the really hot one is my wife, so yeah, I totally have a thing for blondes.
Looks like fun ...
Are we all invited to the book launch?

Those pictures are so fun.
