Bryan Bliss -- try not to hate him.

I'm a couple days late in doing this, but I really want to congratulate my good friend Bryan Bliss. Sixteen days from first query ever, to signing with a hot agent. Anybody out there ever heard of shorter?

You're a rock star, buddy.

(If anybody is curious, click here to read more about his whirlwind agent search, and find out who his agent is.)

As for me, my agent offered to represent me within a week of beginning to query. So that would be pretty good, except that it was my tenth novel, and I had close to 400 rejections from all my previous works. A lesser man might be tempted to be bitter over Bryan's nearly instantaneous success, but not me. I'm really happy. Really really really flipping happy. And I really mean it. The emphatic insistance might make me seem insincere, but I'm really really not.

Really.

Anyway. Congratulations again, Bryan. And good luck on your first, big, agent-mandated revision. I'm pleased that we'll be miserable together.

Whenever I'm over here I read how productive you are. That is so many words that you have written. I'm thoroughly impressed. And a little jealous. I haven't even finished one novel enough to send it out. I envy both bb's and your stories.

That is amazing! I read some pages of his manuscript a few days prior to his snagging an agent, and I was very impressed with it. It's been fun hearing about his writing/agent seeking adventure!
I'll be looking for an agent in a few months, I can only hope to get one in 16 months!

Is that his official picture that will be on his jacket cover? He should consider it!

Congrats! It's so exciting knowing there will be new great books to read!

I think your story is inspiring. A week after querying is fantastic, but I feel better knowing there was a hard, long slog beforehand. Sometimes it feels like the querying goes on...forever...*faints*

Except for your friend Brian, however. :D

How did I miss this?

Sheesh...I am usually ontop of all declarations of my greatness.

Thanks, Ray.

*is secretly crushed that all my new followers didn't find me by Googling "awesome"*

And please, try not to hate me.

That's pretty cool beans. Hope to see both of you side-by-side on the NY Times bestseller list.
