Today's 'word-of-the-day'

Here's a new word for all you writer/blogger types: oblogated -- it's derived from the English word blog ('web log': to chronicle one's adventures in a public, on-line journal) and obligation (to be bound by a sense of responsibility or commitment). The word is used to described a blog entry that contains little or no information of note, posted only to placate one's vague compulsion to update.

It is best used when one hasn't written a blog entry in two or more weeks, yet has nothing important to relate that would be of interest to one's community of online readers.

A sample oblogated post:

--------------------------------------------

So I've been writing a bit lately, kind of waffling on what to work on, though. Work's been rough. I hate how they expect you to actually exert yourself in exchange for money -- doesn't seem right, somehow. Family's fine, kids're fine, wife is fine (and I do mean 'fine' -- happy Friday, Babe). Oh look , the mail's here. Reminds me of a song: "Here's the mail it never fails it makes me want to wag my tail, when it comes I want to wail.... " Wierd. I can't remember that last word. Anybody know what that last word is? Anyhow, I like Guinness -- have I mentioned? Yeah. Pretty much gotta sneak that into every post somehow. Speaking of Guinness, here's a picture so y'all have something to look at besides little rows of black marks.

This concludes today's 'word-of-the-day' discussion. Please note that the term 'oblogated' and all of its derivatives ('obloge', 'oblogation', 'oblogatory', etc.) are the sole intellectual property of Bigplainv Enterprises. Word may be used in any manner consistant with the shared goals of writers and bloggers worldwide, yet each usage shall necessitate a payment of one quarter. OK, the main thing I took from this fabulously informative post is that my husband needs to compliment me more. I can't remember the last time he called me "fine." Oh, wait, yes I can. It was never.

MAIL!!!!!!!

I had to finish it for you. You know, I hear that song in my sleep. That, and the theme to Clifford the Big Red Dog. "Clifford needed Emily, so he chose her for his own, and her love made Clifford grow so big, that the Howard's had to leave their home..."

Shoot me.

I used "oblogation" this morning, but I was talking to my cat. Do you still have to cough up dough? How 'bout I just drink a Guinness in your honor?

BPV, I enjoyed reading your random thoughts. Not sure why, I just did. Well, now that I think of it maybe it was because Steve in his green striped shirt reminds me of when my boys were little. They're now 12 & 8 and time flies. And, Guiness reminds me of Ireland - my favorite place on Earth.

HOPE YOU'RE NOT FEELING TOO DOGGONE "BLUE" ABOUT NOT BEING ABLE TO REMEMBER THE LAST WORD. I REMEMBER ALL OF THE GRANDKIDS LOVING THAT SHOW (AND WE STILL HAVE THE VIDEOTAPES).

Funny! And I even commented because I wanted to, not because I felt oblogated!:)
Now I have the MAIIIIIIIIIIIIL song in my head...

Yep. Now I have it stuck in my head too. Did you feel oblogated to do that to us?

Snarf.

Geez, I never replied to anybody. I suck. Truly.

Here's my blanket response:

Har! You guys're so funny. Yer the funniest guys I know. (On the internet) How'd I get such a fine group of funny blogger friends? I don't know but I sure don't deserve them. Because I forget to respond. And then when I do respond, it's utterly stupid in every way.
