A new and better excuse for not updating.

I like you blog people, have I told you that lately?

And so it is with heavy heart that I make the following announcement: computer number two took its final, ragged breath yesterday -- which leaves me with a total of zero computers.

So. Until my teeny-tiny notebook gets shipped back to me, I might miss some of y'all's blog posts here and there. Which I really hate because I have this thing where I feel compelled to stay current with each and every person who comments on my blog. Between that and the fact that I don't have TV, I give it two days before I start to manifest actual physical symptoms of withdrawal (mood swings, irritibility, uncontrollable tremors).

But here's the good news: the computer didn't die until I'd finished the absolute last of my revisions and sent it out to my agent, along with the marketing materials he'd asked for. So yeah, those files are safe, and even better -- I'm officially in the 'submitting' phase of my writing career. (Okay, we haven't actually sent anything out yet, but mentally, I'm in the submitting phase.)

Just so you know, I do have internet access at the hospital, but they expect me to participate in surgery from time-to-time, so I can't count on that to feed my addiction. Those jerks.

So to hear about the computer.. But, glad to hear it happened after you sent everything to your agent. Enjoy the break. :)

Best of luck on your submission. Sorry to hear about your computer. When mine died, I bought a new one within two days. I couldn't afford to do such a thing, but I couldn't afford not to either.

Good luck with your submissions, V. Use this computer-less time to recite some fine poetry to your wife and family. That or play rock, paper scissors.

I know how it feels to be without internet (although I've been lucky enough to still be with computer).

On a mildly blog-related note, it's cool to see someone else who does surgical-fun as a day job in addition to the writing thing! Go surgery!

Awww, V, sorry about your computer! But at least it didn't go belly up before you finished revisions. That would have caused screaming and twitching for sure. I'm so excited about your book being submitted. We're living vicariously through you, so don't leave us hanging for too long!

I'll miss you because sometimes I check your blog twice a day...you can use my computer if you need to, although my monitor is fading fast. Hey, congrats on your submission! Keep us posted somehow, we are all anxiously awaiting the news!

Those symptoms sound dangerously like PMS. (With the exception of the tremors.) You might want to get that checked out. Good luck with the submission, and don't be a stranger for too long. You wouldn't want us talking behind your back (tee-hee!).

Holy cow. NO COMPUTER? Can it be done without suffering from withdrawal?

Congrats on finishing the edit. Let's hope the agents is pleased.

I find computerless periods to be a good time to catch up on the stuff I don't do enough of when I have one--like simply reading for fun or practicing guitar.

Hang in there!

Bosses are so mean. They are unpleasant at best.

So, we can say anything we want about you - that's the point, right?

Boo, computer death. Yeah, submission stage.

Well, if your computer was going to die, and least it died when you were completely finished! :D

Good luck with the submissions!!

*marketing materials* - Do you have an official author photo now?

You're in mental submissions. With an emphasis on mental. Heh.

Carrie Harris said...

Ahem. Um... that last comment was from me. Apparently I'm mental too.

I hope you make it back to the world o' technology soon. A radio and a trip to the movies *might* keep the tremors at bay.

Psst...What does BunnyJo mean by BIG news??

I'm absolutely, 100% certain there's an upside to being computer-less for a couple days.

When you find out what it is, please tell me for the next time mine goes on the fritz.

Submitting is fun. Especially for masochists. ;)

I hear you on the work thing. So annoying!
Take a break from blogging, then come back fresh and shiny.

OK, enough already. I need a Big Plain V fix.

Sorry about your computer. At least it had the courtesy to wait until you were done your revisions.
Happy submitting!
